SELECTIVE RESTRICTION SIGNS

Selective restriction signs are used as SECONDARY SIGNS along with other regulatory signs.  It will usually be displayed beneath (below) the primary regulatory sign to form a combination sign.  It indicates that selective rules or restrictions apply to a specific regulatory sign.  See Combination Signs to view more examples of such combinations and their meanings.

These selective restriction (secondary) signs would indicate that the regulatory sign applies only at certain times, to certain vehicle classes, to traffic traveling in a particular direction or under certain circumstances.

EXAMPLE: temporary selective restriction sign

In effect this would mean that you have to respond to the primary regulatory sign in accordance with whatsoever the selective restriction (secondary) sign indicates.

Shape:  Rectangular

Colours:  The colours of these signs will vary and the selective restriction sign will mostly adopt the colours of the accompanying regulatory sign.

All selective restriction signs have a temporary version with a yellow background.  Temporary signs would be displayed along with a temporary primary regulatory sign where circumstances on the road have changed temporarily and have equal importance to that of the standard versions.
