Mr Instructor K53 Driving School

Learner's and Driver's Licensing the trusted way!

Training Philosophy

Background

The objective of the training process is to enable the applicant to successfully complete a practical driving test.  The test starts with a yard test (not exceeding 20 minutes), including a pretrip inspection of the vehicle, followed by parking exercises (parallel parking left & right, alley docking left & right and turn in the road), an incline start and an emergency stop.

The second part is a road test (minimum of 20 minutes).  The 1st and 2nd part of the test have to be executed in adherence to traffic law and K53 safety standards.

Pitfalls

Unsuccessful applicants normally fail within the first few minutes of the test, whilst doing parking exercises.  Naturally one could deduce from this, that parking should be emphasized during training.  However, we're of the opinion that excessive anxiety and nervousness are the main contributing factors to failing the driving test regardless of whether it is failed during the parking or the road test.

Driver Confidence

The best way to overcome "test jitters" is to develop driving confidence.  We tend to focus on this, without neglecting other aspects of the test.  As the word driving license indicates, you have to pass a driving test, not so much a parking test.

Applicants who are confident in their driving ability, approach the test with less anxiety.  They perceive the parking for what it is - a mere formality, a prescreening before the actual road test commences.

Motivation

We use various NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) techniques to program the applicant to look beyond the huge problem that the test represents, enabling and empowering them to stay focused and motivated.

Cost Effectiveness

Parents can contribute a lot toward controlling costs of driving lessons by participating in the process.  Applicants who have complete control over a motor vehicle only require a few formal driving lessons to master the K53 safety standards and parking techniques.

They are therefore encouraged to do as much driving (supervised by parents, partners and friends) in between driving lessons or even before they start a driving course.  Regardless of the above, our driving lessons are presented at competitive rates.

Beginner Drivers

Not withstanding the above, beginner drivers are more than welcome.  With the dual controlled vehicles they are a pleasure to teach.  As far as cost effectiveness is concerned, total training packages still doesn't outweigh insurance excess payments, should your car be involved in an accident with a learner driver.

Special Considerations

Some applicants believe that they have poor eye-hand coordination, which deteriorates further under stressful conditions, such as undergoing driving lessons.  Through simple left-right brain integration exercises, this problem is normally overcome.
